TN-2 vs OPT

I'm Canadian and finishing up my PhD in a stem field at a US university. I have a promising job offer but they would like me to start in July, before I officially finish my degree in August. I'm being told conflicting info about whether it is better to pursue a TN-2 or apply for OPT. Some of the points that have been mentioned to me:

-travel ban might make it difficult to do TN (not sure if it makes a difference that I could drive to a border crossing)
-OPT processing time is 1.5 to 5 months, and if I'm not going to graduate until August I can't apply until May
-I-129 processing time is 3 weeks to 4 months

Would appreciate thoughts and general advice about how to know what the "right" thing to do is. Would the company give me pointers? My school's immigration advisor admitted she doesn't know much about TN which makes me nervous. Thank you.

NVC Case FE Review note

Hi everyone, my family and I are under the F3 category and we just received a notice from NVC that our documents have been approved and that we are Documentarily Qualified. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 for a joint sponsor may be submitted." We already have a petitioner and a household sponsor (the household sponsor's income is above the required level), but still unsure why we received this. Has anyone else received this message? All of our documents say "Approved" on NVC. Does this mean we have to find another sponsor? Can we show the consular officer our ...
