Was assaulted by visiting professor

I’ve made a throwaway account for this post as it’s a bit personal. I am a female in her early twenties who was raped in October of 2019 by a professor at Columbia university. I don’t want to get into the specifics of the event but after the assault I was apprehended by campus police as i was visibly distraught. Extremely long story short the campus police called NYPD and I was questioned. I gave the police my ID and told them my story but did not end up going to the hospital or filing an official report because of the way it was handled. I did not give the police his first name but did give details on his exact profession, nationality, etc.

I had basic details from the professor which made it easy to google him and found out his last name. 8 months later I am coming to terms with my assault and have regrets for not filing an official report. I looked up the professor and he has returned to his home country which is in Eastern Europe.

Now I am at a crossroads on what to do. If I file a follow up would it be taking seriously since he is no longer here? I have photo evidence of injuries but since my initial talk with police wasn’t an official report I have no clue if the night of the event was put on file. There was about 15 police on the scene so I feel like something had to have been reported....

Additionally if I follow up would a pending report prohibit him from gaining a visa back into the country? Since he has returned to Europe I have little hope he would ever be prosecuted but I would like a paper trail if he ever tries to come back to the states. Please help on how I should proceed

NVC Case FE Review note

Hi everyone, my family and I are under the F3 category and we just received a notice from NVC that our documents have been approved and that we are Documentarily Qualified. My only concern is this message that we received today in addition to the acceptance: " [Name of petitioner] does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants for this case. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p . To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 for a joint sponsor may be submitted." We already have a petitioner and a household sponsor (the household sponsor's income is above the required level), but still unsure why we received this. Has anyone else received this message? All of our documents say "Approved" on NVC. Does this mean we have to find another sponsor? Can we show the consular officer our ...
