I have scoured the immi gov site for any information but these points are not made clear enough for me, I wonder whether someone else in a similar situation or working in immigration has a better understanding?
I lived in Australia for the past 4 years, 3 of which on a Bridging Visa A, awaiting permanent residency.
I had to return to my home country during the Covid-19 outbreak on a Bridging Visa B which has now expired. I am unable to find concrete information on whether my Bridging Visa A currently remains valid, and whether I will be able to return (for example on a tourist visa) once the borders are reopened to non-residents and automatically regain working rights from my BVA.
I also wonder whether there are any success stories in appealing for an exemption to travel in cases similar to mine? I applied and was immediately denied for not meeting the criteria.
My employer in Australia is keeping me employed with hopes that I will be able to return soon and continue performing my duties. Would it be a good idea to have them apply for exemption on my behalf as they are back to operating at full capacity and need me back as soon as possible? It is not an essential industry, and would be one of the first to fully close again if another full lock down happens. Its based in Queensland.
Do I have any other options to return that I've overlooked? Any advice would be appreciated.
