Hi! I’m a highschool student in the US, and I live here as a dependent on my dad’s E3 (Australian) work visa. He’s trying to get sponsored for H1B, but his company does lotteries so our chances aren‘t very high. If by the time I turn 21 and he still doesn’t have citizenship, does that mean I need to apply for my own student visa?
Is it easier to stay in the US if you are going for a master‘s degree? I’ve been thinking about college and I originally just wanted to study for a bachelors, but I was told that you have a higher chance for citizenship if you get a master’s. Before 21, could I still work during college because I’m technically on a work visa? I really don’t want to get kicked out of the country halfway through a degree, and I’ve lived here for so long that I would be useless anywhere else. I hope this is the right place to ask, because I don’t want my parents to know that I’ve been worrying.
