I overnight expressed the I-130 (and all accompanying documents and the cashier's check!) for my wife and her son yesterday in an attempt to get everything there before this weekend, when forms expire and costs increase.
We woke today to find that the envelope ended up on the wrong truck. UPS isn't sure which truck that is, they just know it's not on the truck it was supposed to be on.
I spent 3 hours on the phone fighting with UPS (who refuses to refund the cost of shipping by the way, so never EVER use them please) and finally got them to change the delivery address to my own, figuring that if I didn't, it would just end up getting there late, being refused, and take months to get my documents and cashier's check back to me. Now my wife and I are wondering if something we found online makes that a really bad decision:
Part G - Public Grounds of Inadmissability states that all applications and petitions sent by commercial carriers, they will use the date on the receipt as the postmark date.
Should we have waited for UPS to find it and deliver it and hope they honor the expired forms and cheaper prices?
