I work for a US based company which also has a small office in Germany. I was based in the US office on a J-1 visa until March 2020 but I returned to Ireland due to the pandemic, where I remain working for the same company remotely (still on US payroll).
I have just learned about the L1B intracompany transfer visa, and that there is a 1 year requirement to have worked for an office of the company outside the US for at least 1 year. In March 2021, will I have met that requirement (given that I was employed for the company and outside the US) or would I need to move to the German office for 1 year to meet the requirement?
I am expecting the latter sadly but thought I would check here before asking the company’s immigration team. I believe I would meet the specialized knowledge requirements.
