Question about immigration routes for a soon-to-graduate PhD.

Hi everyone,

I'm a soon-to-graduate CS PhD student at a Canadian university (EU nationality, no family ties to the US). I'm at the very start of my job search (I have some time secured due to having an internship lined up post-graduation), and would very much like to emigrate to the US for work. What would be the recommended route? Among others, I can think of:

- EB-2. The problem is that the delay seems very long (1+ year) for any company to want to hire me.

- EB-2 NIW. That would work for me, I could work for another company while it processes, and then move if accepted. I don't have any idea of how difficult it is to get. I've searched for services online, e.g. wegreened.com. Are those any good? Do you have an idea of the cost?

- Same as above for EB-1. I have heard many sides of the story, ranging from relatively easy to nigh-impossible to get.

- L1. Is this a common route? How should I approach this, apply to a US role where there is an office abroad, and mention I want them to sponsor me in 1 year time to move to the US? Do companies commonly discuss/accept this at hiring time?

- I specifically want to have more options than the H1-B route due to the large uncertainty: I'm looking for something that only depends on my background, not random luck.

- O1: is it easier/harder than e.g. EB-1/2s?

I'm also very interested in any additional advice, or ideas I might have missed. Many thanks!

NVC Case FE Review note

Hi everyone, my family and I are under the F3 category and we just received a notice from NVC that our documents have been approved and that we are Documentarily Qualified. My only concern is this message that we received today in addition to the acceptance: " [Name of petitioner] does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants for this case. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p . To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 for a joint sponsor may be submitted." We already have a petitioner and a household sponsor (the household sponsor's income is above the required level), but still unsure why we received this. Has anyone else received this message? All of our documents say "Approved" on NVC. Does this mean we have to find another sponsor? Can we show the consular officer our ...
