Need help understanding forgivness for undocumented work.

My wife has an F-1Visa, did undocumented work and married me, a U.S. citizen.

We are in the process of applying for green card and because of the public charge rule, our immigration lawyer recomends doing joint taxes. this requires us to report the undocumented work which we are happy to do.

My wife is super stressed that forgivness through marriage only allows you to apply for green card. she is very afraid that reporting the undocumented work will cause problems with her visa status, and she will be black listed for travel, and lose the ability to do her well paying job in her country. Due to culture, she can't fully accept and trust information from the lawyer.

Two questions: Where can I find information about laws / cases about the forgiveness of undocumented work through marriage and its effect on F1- Visa status

In your experience, is it possible for my wife's nightmare to become a reality?

To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 for a joint sponsor may be submitted." We already have a petitioner and a household sponsor (the household sponsor's income is above the required level), but still unsure why we received this. Has anyone else received this message? All of our documents say "Approved" on NVC. Does this mean we have to find another sponsor? Can we show the consular officer our ...
