American citizen but no American passport

Hi I recently got my naturalization certificate and didn’t get around to apply for US passport before flying to visit family in Israel. I used my Israeli passport to travel to Israel but when I tried to come back home to my husband and family in California I was not allowed to go on the plane because I don’t have an American passport.

The options I was offered by the American embassy in Israeli is to wait 2 months for an appointment and apply for an American passport here in Israel. But rent is due and 2 months is too long for me to wait.

My question is, if I but a ticket to Mexico from Israel with a layover in America, would I be able to get through the immigration without and American passport? I have the naturalization certificate with me to prove citizenship.

Does anyone here have any information that could help me?

NVC Case FE Review note

Hi everyone, my family and I are under the F3 category and we just received a notice from NVC that our documents have been approved and that we are Documentarily Qualified. My only concern is this message that we received today in addition to the acceptance: " [Name of petitioner] does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants for this case. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 for a joint sponsor may be submitted." We already have a petitioner and a household sponsor (the household sponsor's income is above the required level), but still unsure why we received this. Has anyone else received this message? All of our documents say "Approved" on NVC. Does this mean we have to find another sponsor? Can we show the consular officer our
