Hi all! I’m in a unique position and would love to hear some thoughts from people familiar with this or who have been in a similar situation. I’m graduating college next month with a job lined up, but I’m still waiting on my EAD and I just received an email about my H1B lottery for 2022 not being selected (yet). I am also in the process of getting my Singapore passport (a change of citizenship) where I could instead qualify for a H1B1 (a Free Trade Agreement that allows me to work in the US).
Would I be able to travel to Singapore for this change in June and then travel back on that passport with my I-20, EAD and other documents that might reflect my old citizenship? Would I also apply for the H1B1 while I’m in Singapore or later on?
I haven’t gotten a straight answer anywhere so if anyone has any experience that would be amazing! Thank you! :)
