I have been having O1 visa under the agent petition. I've had it twice.
I've recently got the full time opportunity that I want as a designer with a big firm, however, it seems like they want to change my "agent" petition to "employer" petition visa. What's worse is that it's been extremely difficult to get a hold of the firm's lawyer to talk about it. They seem to be making a lot of decisions in a closed door.
The latest update that I got from the HR is that the timeline would be 6-13 weeks and my hiring manager is going to ask his manager wether they will be able to do it or not.
I have friends who have recently changed from an "agent" to "employer" O1 by using the premium processing that can guarantee to hear back in a couple weeks. I think the timeline that the HR mentioned seems oddly long and can hurt my candidacy for the job.
Any advice/experiences from somebody who's has gone through a similar process? I am struggling on how to approach this situation. I want to tell my hiring manager that the timeline 2-8 weeks can be a lot shorter.
