Canadian citizen living in Minnesota not being issued REAL driver license ID by the DVS/DMV because of "lack" of visa stamp
i am a Canadian citizen living legally in the united states (Minnesota) on H1B visa. I went to obtain an MN REAL ID. I was told at the DVS that I am not eligible for a REAL ID because I do not have a "visa stamp" in my passport despite having the legal I-94. Canadians do not have a visa stamp because they don't get one.
are there any Canadians out there, or any people knowledgable about my options, and whether this is just a mishap from the local DMV?
This REAL ID will offer me the convenience of not needing my passport everytime I fly domestically.
Appreciate your help in advance. Big gratitude to any Minnesota DVS employees/officials who may read this and offer their guidance.
