Canadian citizen staying in USA between TN visa jobs

Hello!

My partner is a Canadian citizen currently working in the San Francisco Bay Area (California) as a tech worker on a valid TN visa.

My partner is considering changing jobs and taking a break between jobs.

My questions are the following:Under what conditions does the 2017 TN visa grace period apply? If they quit, can they stay in the US for 60 days unconditionally and find a new job at the end?

Can my partner lawfully quit, apply for a B-1 visa to "wrap up business affairs" to remain for 60 days, then apply for a new TN visa with a new employer at the end of the B-1 visa period? Could they do this with a B-2 visa?

If they find a new employer to sponsor a TN visa _before_ they quit, could my partner delay their start date by, say, 60-90 days and remain in the US between the jobs? ie, can a company temporarily sponsor their TN visa if they are not yet actively working full-time for the company?

For any of the above, would they be able to exit and re-enter the US, or would they have to remain inside the US for the duration of their "between jobs" status?

I am aware that an alternative to all of the above is going through the civil marriage process, but we'd both like to avoid that for the time being.

NVC Case FE Review note

Hi everyone, my family and I are under the F3 category and we just received a notice from NVC that our documents have been approved and that we are Documentarily Qualified. My only concern is this message that we received today in addition to the acceptance: " [Name of petitioner] does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants for this case. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p . To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 for a joint sponsor may be submitted." We already have a petitioner and a household sponsor (the household sponsor's income is above the required level), but still unsure why we received this. Has anyone else received this message? All of our documents say "Approved" on NVC. Does this mean we have to find another sponsor? Can we show the consular officer our ...
