Hello. My mother married an American and I was able to move out to USA. I’ve been here on one of the K-dependent visa first, then it expired and my mother and her husband didn’t do the papers. I was in USA for a year. Then I went back to my homeland and returned in 2018, now with a permanent residency.
My questions are: a) does the three-year rule apply to me or only my mother? I need to wait until 2023 to apply for citizenship? b) does the year I spent before obtaining permanent residency add up to the overall time? I think there should be a stamp in my passports so I could show that. Instead of 2023, would it be 2022 or the count starts after obtaining permanent residency? c) the rules also say I need to provide tax returns. I started working only this year, would I need to provide forms for years I haven’t worked?
