US Permanent Resident - Expired Passport

Good morning - or perhaps afternoon/evening to you all. Just got a quick question here related to my mother’s situation, she left the US back in ~May this year to go to Mexico to take care of business and she will be flying back to the US soon. The issue is, with how long she’s been in the US vs Mexico, she saw her passport’s expiration date of;

09 04(April) 2021

as

09 (September) 04 2021

Needless to say, Mexican authorities weren’t exactly pleased to see her passport as expired upon her arrival, but they let her through anyways. She’s tried getting her passport renewed, but since she’s always gotten her passport handled and renewed in the US, it seems that made a difference to Mexican passport offices. She’s tried multiple appointments over the course of her trip, and since she’s more of a US permanent resident than she is a Mexican National nowadays, she wasn’t able to get some of the documents required for renewal in Mexico nor did she really get any quality assistance from said offices to this very day. She intends to just renew her passport in the US like she always has instead mind you.

However, we have read about how she might be able to fly out to the US from Mexico anyways under her US resident name despite her currently expired passport since she has a greencard, but we wanted to make sure about two things as we prepare her trip home;

Is it a Mexican airport’s business to interrogate her or impede her from getting to her gate if she decides to just show her US driver’s license or greencard to get through airport security for her flight into the US? Her return flight has her US name documented as opposed to her Mexican name.

Can she get through customs and immigration with her expired Mexican passport, US driver’s license, and her greencard? Are there any forms she should fill out ahead of time?

That’s pretty much it. We have the Covid test stuff figured out by the way, understanding how it’s a contemporary issue. Thanks for the information in advance, happy travels to you all!

NVC Case FE Review note

Hi everyone, my family and I are under the F3 category and we just received a notice from NVC that our documents have been approved and that we are Documentarily Qualified. My only concern is this message that we received today in addition to the acceptance: " [Name of petitioner] does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants for this case. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p . To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 for a joint sponsor may be submitted." We already have a petitioner and a household sponsor (the household sponsor's income is above the required level), but still unsure why we received this. Has anyone else received this message? All of our documents say "Approved" on NVC. Does this mean we have to find another sponsor? Can we show the consular officer our ...
